Job Description
Contentious Probate Solicitor, Swindon My client is a highly regarded firm who are looking to strengthen their offering by starting up a new contentious probate department. There are some solicitors covering this work at the moment but they also cover other areas of law and with the enquiries coming into the firm and the strong relationships passing referrals between different teams the time is right now to cover this work fully giving whoever is coming the chance to lead and there would be a clear progression route to partnership. The firm can support you fully in every aspect to take this new venture a success. The firm really want this team to get off the ground and as a result will push the boat out for the right person. This is an excellent opportunity to take a key role in a well-regarded and supportive firm, handling a varied caseload of complex and high-value disputes. You will manage your own caseload of contentious probate matters, including:
* Will challenges (validity, undue influence, lack of capacity).
* Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
* Executor/Trustee disputes.
* Disputes over estate administration and interpretation.
* Court of Protection disputes (where relevant).
You will work closely with the wider Private Client and Dispute Resolution teams, and will be encouraged to contribute to business development and the ongoing success of the department.
There will not be any initial targets but you should have experience of high net worth clients and sensitive, often emotionally charged issues.
What you can expect here is a very competitive salary and benefits package, flexible / hybrid working, a supportive culture and a clear career progression.
