Overview
Are you an experienced and innovative NMC Registered Nurse? This is a fixed term contract role for 12 months (with the possibility of becoming a permanent position) based at Peterborough City Hospital. You may be required to work across sites as required. You will join our Research team to apply your knowledge and skills in a clinical research setting.
You will collaborate with local R&D members to assess capacity and capability for research studies, and work with research teams to inform potential participants of relevant projects. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Training will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with local R&D and clinical teams to assess capacity and capability for research studies.
* Inform potential participants about relevant projects and assist with the informed consent process in accordance with GCP.
* Support the clinical research team across the Trust, manage a caseload of patients, and maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals.
* Provide research information to patients and relatives, acting as a resource to explain practical aspects of clinical research.
* Facilitate the informed consent process to ensure patients and relatives fully understand the nature of the research.
* Ensure study-specific investigations are undertaken as required by the research protocol to ensure participant safety.
* Monitor treatment toxicity/side effects and implement changes to treatment as required by the protocol.
* Arrange collection of blood and other research samples, ensure safe and appropriate storage of specimens with local teams, phlebotomy and laboratory staff.
* Assist with participant identification, recruitment, visits, sample collection/processing, and maintenance of study documentation (case report forms) according to ICH-GCP.
* Maintain compliance with study documentation and regulatory requirements; contribute to study documentation upkeep.
* Support colleagues within clinical research and participate in training and mentoring as needed.
Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse (essential).
* Experience within NHS/Trust divisions and clinical research experience is desirable; full training and mentoring will be provided.
* Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ability to facilitate informed consent.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to work across clinical divisions and across sites as workload dictates.
