Locum Consultant Paediatrician – Locum for 6 months
This General Paediatric locum post is available for a period of 6 months and offers an exciting opportunity to work within the Specialist Children’s Health Service Unit. You will support service transformation by delivering a range of high‑impact changes, focusing on improving patient flow and the patient journey, and expanding Hospital at Home (Paediatrics) services across NHS Lanarkshire.
The successful candidate will join the existing Hospital at Home team, assist in the implementation of the service, review and develop current service provision, and manage hospital‑at‑home patients. You will also work in acute paediatric services alongside current consultants, preparing patients for hospital at home on a daily basis, Monday to Friday, 9‑5, and work on inpatient and triage wards. The schedule includes 2 hot weeks per 6 months, one weekend per month (Saturday 2‑8 pm and Sunday 2‑8 pm) for hospital at home and triage cover, and allocated time for appraisal (1 SPA) and administration/service development. Additional SPA time may be proposed and considered based on demonstrated commitment to quality improvement or related areas.
* Support service transformation and improve patient flow and journey.
* Engage with the Hospital at Home team and implement new service protocols.
* Review and enhance existing paediatric service provision.
* Deliver acute paediatric clinical care, including inpatient and triage ward support.
* Prepare patients for Hospital at Home and conduct consultant reviews as needed.
* Participate in continuous quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and medical education as required.
