We have recently become a Delivery Partner for the Environment Agency’s latest framework, focusing on understanding climate change impacts and flood risks in England. Under the 2024 Mapping and Modelling Framework, AtkinsRéalis will provide survey, mapping, modelling, incident management, hydrological, and other professional services to help identify and plan for climate events. This significant program aims to enhance the Environment Agency's understanding of climate change effects and mitigate flooding risks, supporting communities across England.

Role: Lead hydraulic and hydrological modelling projects.
Expertise: Proficiency in 1D and 2D modelling for rivers, surface water, and coastal areas.
Location: Multiple UK locations.
AtkinsRéalis is a leading engineering, environmental, and design consultancy offering diverse projects at various scales. Our ongoing flood risk management projects include frameworks for the Environment Agency and local authorities across the UK, as well as major initiatives like HS2 and Sizewell C. We also work internationally on projects in the Middle East, North America, and beyond, often collaborating with global teams.
Requirements:
* Experience in delivering flood risk projects with a focus on hydraulic modelling, capable of leading technical work and mentoring junior staff.
* Proficiency in 1D-2D modelling tools such as Infoworks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY, or HEC-RAS, and GIS platforms like ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS. Experience with FEH hydrological assessments is desirable.
* Leadership experience in managing technical teams.
* Strong decision-making skills based on technical data.
Chartered status is highly valued; support for obtaining professional memberships is available. Civil engineering design experience related to flooding is a plus but not essential.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct hydraulic modelling, data analysis, GIS, and technical reporting, ensuring quality standards.
* Manage and mentor junior team members, support project managers, and oversee project delivery including financial and change management.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide high-quality client service.
* Assist in business development activities, including tendering and stakeholder engagement.
* Contribute to the growth and development of the Flood Risk Team through active participation in technical networks.
