An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineering Manager within the RF Power division based in Chelmsford. You will manage one of the RF Power project streams—Pulse Power, Tubes, Novel Systems (MPMs/TWTA), or RFSS—ensuring the successful delivery of complex engineering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards. These projects include multi-projects and encompass both customer-facing and internal R&D initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Coordinating engineering teams, other departments, and third-party suppliers for project execution.
2. Defining, communicating, and ensuring the delivery of roles and tasks.
3. Planning, costing, and resource allocation to meet project timelines cost-effectively.
4. Reviewing project progress regularly, assessing time, cost, quality, and risks.
5. Managing scope changes, involving stakeholders, assessing impacts, and obtaining approvals.
6. Keeping stakeholders informed about progress, risks, and resource utilization.
7. Managing relationships with customers and stakeholders.
8. Ensuring adherence to internal project management processes.
9. Implementing and improving project delivery methodologies and best practices.
10. Supporting business development efforts and strategy.
11. Line managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, including resource management, performance reviews, and recruitment.
Candidate requirements:
* Extensive experience managing engineering projects from bid to production.
* Proven ability to energize teams and meet critical deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills across all business levels.
* Strong problem-solving skills and commercial awareness.
* Sound judgment in ownership and escalation decisions.
* Proficiency with project management tools like MS Project and MS Project Server; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
* Project management qualifications are desirable.
* Eligibility for Security Clearance and UK nationality.
