Overview
Autism Support Worker required by Veritas Education in Bradford, West Yorkshire. This is a permanent full-time role with potential for part-time arrangements. Location: Bradford, United Kingdom. Contract Type: Monday-Friday (8:30am-3:30pm) - Term Time Only. Daily rate: £90-£110.
We are committed to providing high-quality supply staff to support students with Special Educational Needs in West Yorkshire specialist schools and Alternative Provisions. We welcome applications from dedicated, enthusiastic individuals who want to contribute to the education and wellbeing of children with SEN.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Provide one-to-one or small group support, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet individual needs.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere; ensure all students feel valued and supported.
* Follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSP).
* Collaborate with professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists and CAMHS to create a comprehensive support network.
* Utilise appropriate behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
* Assist with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting and mobility as required.
* Model positive behaviour and build strong relationships with students and staff.
* Be flexible and hardworking to meet the needs of children with complex SEN and medical needs.
* Communicate with students using PECS, sign language and Makaton as appropriate.
Requirements
* Experience supporting adults and/or children with Special Educational Needs is essential (education, residential, hospital, care homes, etc.).
* Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/PMLD is valued.
* Level 2 Team Teach is essential (training can be provided by Veritas).
* Safeguarding training is essential (training can be provided by Veritas).
* GCSE English and Maths is essential.
* Good knowledge of SEN is essential.
* Moving and handling qualification is preferred.
* Have or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
* Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
