Warehouse Operator
DSV is recruiting for Warehouse Operators in Thrapston working weekday AM shifts. The Warehouse Operative’s role is to facilitate and ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are safely and accurately unloaded, received, checked, wrapped and put-away, and to execute all other tasks relating to warehouse operation in accordance with operational and health and safety procedures. Must follow standard operating procedures and work in a methodical and tidy manner, with a comprehensive understanding of material/stock management techniques and inventory control methods and procedures. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Warehouse Operator has daily accountability for warehousing operations including receiving, put away, inventory, picking, packing and delivery of stock items, operating manual handling equipment as required, and minimizing losses and damages. Tasks should be completed with a high degree of accuracy to maintain organisation standards and ensure compliance with safety, quality, health and environment procedures. Maintain a safe working environment and report incidents or accidents immediately to the relevant manager.
Responsibilities
* Handle goods in vehicles/containers to ensure they are ready for replenishment.
* Pick and pack products including unboxing, labeling, re-boxing and stacking on pallets.
* Carry out tasks related to returned goods, including unloading vehicles, sorting returns and putting stock away.
* Ensure quality and accuracy during operations.
* Perform quality audits and checks on products or storage locations as required.
* Maintain stock integrity by ensuring correct stock and system moves.
* Perform other duties reasonably required that are consistent with training and experience.
* Comply with health and safety requirements including warehouse procedures, PPE and housekeeping.
* Complete pre- and post-use inspections on workplace transport and report malfunctions or damage to ensure safe operation.
* Understand and comply with relevant company rules, policies and legislative requirements; maintain confidentiality.
* Act professionally, maintain good working relationships, and promote a positive company image.
* Maintain health, safety and environmental standards and be aware of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS).
* Adhere to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Assurance system procedures.
* Ensure work areas are tidy and secure when unoccupied, and challenge unauthorised presence on site where appropriate.
* Attend development training as required in line with Investors in People standards.
Qualifications and Skills
* 2 GCSEs in maths and English
* Previous experience in a warehouse environment
* Ability to challenge health and safety failures
* Use own initiative to suggest procedural improvements
* Relevant workplace transport qualifications and experience with counterbalance and reach trucks
* Understanding of basic health and safety principles
* Good spoken and written English
* Ability to plan and manage own time
* Own transport
