Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is seeking an ambitious and dynamic Tourism Facilities Development Manager to lead the management, development and growth of some of the region's most valued tourism assets. From award-winning forest parks and stunning beaches to harbours, visitor attractions and outdoor recreation facilities, this is an opportunity to influence how thousands of visitors experience one of Northern Ireland's premier tourism destinations. The Opportunity This is far more than a facilities management role. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of tourism infrastructure across the district, delivering innovative projects, enhancing visitor experiences, developing strategic partnerships and ensuring our facilities continue to grow in popularity, sustainability and commercial success. Working closely with the Head of Tourism, Product Development and Visitor Experience, you will help drive the Council's tourism strategy, delivering initiatives that increase visitor numbers, generate revenue and strengthen the area's reputation as a world-class destination. What You'll Be Responsible For Strategic Leadership Driving the development and continuous improvement of Council tourism facilities. Identifying opportunities for growth, innovation and enhanced visitor experiences. Supporting long-term tourism strategies and business planning. Facilities & Operations Management Leading the management of tourism facilities across the district. Ensuring compliance with health and safety, risk management and statutory obligations. Managing maintenance programmes, inspections, business continuity and operational excellence. People Leadership Leading, motivating and developing multidisciplinary teams. Creating a high-performance culture focused on customer service and visitor satisfaction. Managing performance, wellbeing, training and professional development. Project & Contract Management Delivering capital projects and improvement programmes from concept to completion. Managing procurement processes, tenders and external contractors. Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards. Tourism Development & Visitor Experience Designing and delivering a year-round programme of activities and events. Working with internal and external stakeholders to maximise visitor engagement. Using visitor insights and data to drive continuous improvement. Partnership & Funding Development Building strong relationships with tourism organisations, community groups and industry stakeholders. Identifying and securing external funding opportunities. Managing funded projects and ensuring successful delivery against objectives. What We're Looking For We're seeking an experienced manager who combines strategic thinking with operational excellence.
