Job summary
The Paediatric Service is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed General Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in Epilepsy neurology and/or Respiratory medicine to work full-time at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust collaborates with the Tees Valley Integrated Care Partnership and the wider North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System, working as part of a broader network to enhance care pathways and workforce development.
Applications are invited for a substantive Consultant Paediatrician based at the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton, to start as soon as possible.
Main duties of the job
* Join a full-time NHS Consultant Group.
* Cover general paediatrics and level one neonates as part of the consultant of the week rota.
* Commitments include the new Children & Young People's Emergency Department (CYPED), the Special Care Baby Unit, and clinics in Hartlepool, Stockton, or Peterlee.
* Participate in the hybrid on-call rota, contributing to weekday and weekend cover, with details to be discussed in the Job planning meeting.
* Provide evening resident cover from 1700-2200 on weekdays and from 0900-2200 on weekends.

Job description
Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and either be on the Specialist Registrar for Paediatrics or within 6 months of CCT. Experience or interest in Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes is preferred. The main responsibilities are outlined in the attached detailed job description.

Essential qualifications and experience
* Full GMC registration
* Evidence of being on the UK specialist registrar or within 6 months of CCT, with expected achievement of CCT
* Expertise in elective and emergency paediatrics
* Independence in clinical responsibility
* Experience with Child Protection and clinical audit
* Understanding of NHS, social, and educational services, and safeguarding legislation
* Ability to work under pressure
* APLS/EPLS/NLS certification
* Teaching experience
* MRCPCH or equivalent
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Specialist training in paediatric areas
* Independent management experience at consultant level
* Experience managing children with complex needs
* Training in NHS management
* Leadership in specialist units or teams
* Educational supervision and teaching training
* Research and publication experience
* Involvement in quality improvement projects
