The Company
My client is a leading Construction Contractor working on a wide variety of projects throughout the South East of England. They provide products and services to create high-end luxury interior environments in the High-End Residential, Leading Hotels, and Restaurants sectors.
The Quantity Surveyor Role:
Based in Suffolk, they are looking for Quantity Surveyors of all experience levels, from Assistant to Senior, to deliver complex refurbishment and interior fit-out projects. You will join a senior management team with extensive experience in the High-End Interiors marketplace.
Roles & Responsibilities Include:
1. Liaising directly with design teams and client representatives in preparation of tenders.
2. Analyzing project details, breaking out subcontractor and supplier enquiries, and selecting suitable subcontractors and suppliers upon receipt of a tender enquiry.
3. Undertaking site surveys to analyze potential risks and highlighting them as appropriate.
4. Preparing pricing documents and formatting them into the standard layout.
5. Cost planning at pre-contract and post-contract stages.
6. Maximizing the company's cash flow through accurate forecasting, clear communication with clients and supply chain, and swift reconciliation of cash-critical issues.
7. Ensuring projects are run in a coordinated manner and in accordance with plans by assisting the contracts team.
8. Managing subcontracts, main contracts, valuations, and final accounts, including the preparation and placement of subcontract orders that create legally binding contracts.
9. Fair and timely assessment of subcontract valuations and final account agreements.
10. Submitting valuations and certifications based on project progress and contract value.
11. Developing and maintaining effective relationships with key consultants to support project progress.
12. Liaising with design teams and client representatives to understand client requirements.
13. Seeking opportunities to enhance relationships and service provision to both internal and external clients.
The Successful Quantity Surveyor:
1. In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including new build, fit-out, and refurbishment.
2. Experience in most of the roles and responsibilities listed above.
3. Degree qualification or NVQ, BTEC, or Higher National diploma or equivalent.
4. 2 to 10 years of full-time experience in a surveying role with a reputable main or principal contractor.
5. Good understanding of JCT forms of contract and contract law.
6. Proficiency in Word and Excel.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
