Job Description
WSP is seeking a Senior or Principal Transport Planner to join our Transport Planning & Mobility team in Manchester. The role supports a hybrid working model, combining office and home work.

Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the delivery of transport and spatial planning projects, ensuring technical excellence, policy compliance and alignment with client objectives.
* Focus on technical project delivery including engagement with wider disciplines, clients and stakeholders.
* Delivery of transport modelling projects, tasks and studies.
* Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff, contributing to technical capability building within the Transport & Mobility Planning team.
* Commercial management of projects and tasks, ensuring programme and budget constraints are achieved.
* Make a visible contribution to WSP’s four key pillars: People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Expertise.
Required Qualifications
* Experience in transport, development or spatial planning.
* Understanding of the UK planning system, including national and local policy, and transport assessment requirements.
* Ability to lead small projects and technical tasks, manage competing priorities and meet commercial requirements.
* Experience contributing to multi‑tier modelling projects including local junction, microsimulation and strategic modelling.
* Experience developing concept options and familiarity with UK highway design standards.
* Experience of client and stakeholder engagement, including presenting complex information clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Commercial awareness, including budget management, forecasting and fee development.
* Strong analytical capability, interpreting transport data and evidence.
* Ability to produce high‑quality technical reports and clear public‑facing documentation.
