Quality and Development Manager Residential Childrens Care Location: Burton on Trent Salary: £40,000 per annum Hours: 40 hours per week, typically MondayFriday 9am5pm We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Quality and Development Manager to support our childrens residential homes in Burton on Trent. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about improving outcomes for young people, driving quality, and supporting care teams to deliver the highest standards of practice. You will not be responsible for the registration of the homes, but you will play a vital role in ensuring they are well-managed, fully compliant, and nurturing environments for the children and young people in our care. Key Responsibilities Ensure homes are compliant with the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards, including carrying out audits and preparing for inspections. Support the daily operations of the homes, ensuring high-quality care and positive outcomes for young people. Work alongside Registered Managers to recruit, supervise and develop high-performing care teams. Step in to support homes in the absence of the manager. Help create therapeutic, supportive, and nurturing environments for young people. Assist with managing rotas, budgets, and regulatory requirements. Take a proactive role in safeguarding, promoting the welfare of children, and ensuring staff well-being. Build and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, schools, health services, and other stakeholders. Drive staff training, professional development, and continuous improvement across all services. Work collaboratively with therapeutic professionals to ensure the best outcomes for young people. Support or lead HR processes including performance management and investigations. Contribute to care planning, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures. Provide flexible support, including varied shifts or sleep-ins if required, and participate in the on-call rota. Requirements Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Strong knowledge of Childrens Homes Regulations and Ofsted frameworks. Experience in childrens residential care, with a proven track record of improving quality and outcomes. Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills. A commitment to safeguarding, child welfare, and continuous improvement. Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the service. What We Offer £40,000 annual salary.
