Product Development Engineer -
Our client is a manufacturing business that supplies products to some of the UK's largest infrasturcture projects.
Due to exapnsion, our client is looking to recruit a Lead Product & Packaging Development Engineer.
As a Lead Product Engineer you'll be delivering new product designs and product improvements that meet customer, business, and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Lead or contribute to major product development projects and multiple smaller initiatives.
*
Deliver product designs through concept, design, prototyping, testing, and pre-production stages using stage-gate principles.
*
Carry out risk assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA, design reviews, and verification testing.
*
Ensure designs are process-capable, repeatable, and compliant with industry and customer requirements.
*
Support packaging development, including materials selection, specifications, supplier engagement, and testing.
*
Work closely with manufacturing to optimise production and packaging solutions.
*
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and workload coordination for engineers and project team members.
*
Facilitate cross-functional communication and structured problem-solving.
*
Support project planning, risk management, and prioritisation activities.
Skills & Experience:
*
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatable experience
*
Previous experience in Development Lead Engineer or similar technical leadership role.
*
Proficient in 3D CAD software (Inventor preferred).
*
Experience with project planning tools and structured problem-solving methods.
*
Able to manage projects from inception through to delivery.
*
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
This role is a hybrid role based in Derbyshire - the ability to commute to the Derbyshire office is essential.
