Manufacturing Manager with complex assembly experience required in Stockport. Due to substantial business growth, this is an outstanding opportunity to join part of a global business operating in the defence industry, supplying special vehicles and equipment to the British military. The Manufacturing Manager will provide leadership to the Manufacturing Team (2 x Supervisors, multiple production staff, manufacturing engineers etc), ensuring cost effective and safe operations of high-quality finished products. You will lead the manufacturing engineering function within assembly / build, to develop and enhance processes, lead problem solving and establish future state factory layout and enablers. Substantial manufacturing leadership experience in a lean / continuous improvement environment, preferably gained from vehicle manufacturing (multiple variants). Driving license. Managing sizeable teams (100). Appreciation of challenges experienced during scaling-up operations, and proven experience of overcoming challenges. Project reporting. SAP. Proven ability to generate / organise and analyse data. Manufacturing Manager main responsibilities: Ensure timely delivery or products that meet cost, quality and programme requirements. Manage and enhance production processes in line with SHE requirements. Assure compliance with quality systems manufacturing procedures, assuring all standards are consistently met. Prioritise and lead problem solving amongst manufacturing engineering and technicians. Establishing review cadence for problem solving feedback. Lead hiring activity with the manufacturing department. Assess skills gaps, manage approvals and draft job descriptions of new positions. Train, develop and mentor staff. Create and implement efficient production plans to maximise labour and fulfil customer demands. Ensure daily, weekly, monthly goals are cascaded and understood amongst the team. Represent the manufacturing function in S&OP reviews. Create capacity planning models. Produce presentations and exec summaries for feedback in operations and project reviews. Monitor and analyse, report on KPIs. Lead and support improvement activities, including cap ex and CI programmes. Direct the smooth integration of new products and variants into the production environment and lead manufacturing readiness review.
