A Specialist SEN School in Bath is looking for a Mental Health Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis, starting now or in September, depending on your availability. The school caters to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, including children with complex trauma, attachment disorders, generalized anxiety, and behavior difficulties.
As a School Mental Health Assistant, you will support students throughout the school day, aiding their academic learning and interpersonal skills. You will follow therapeutic practices, help children regulate their emotions, and cope with daily mental health challenges. You will also assist the class teacher and liaise with on-site Psychologists and Therapists to ensure effective support for each child.
This is a great opportunity for recent graduates (Psychology or Criminology preferred) to gain experience in the mental health field. You will learn how trauma affects behavior and the therapeutic practices used to address it, building a foundation for future training as a Psychologist, Therapist, or Counsellor.
The ideal candidate is open-minded, resilient, passionate about mental health, and ready for a challenge. Experience working with children or with additional needs is beneficial. Enthusiasm and a positive attitude are essential.
