Senior Modern Workplace Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Modern Workplace Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This pivotal role involves designing and implementing cutting‑edge workplace solutions, managing technical support tickets, and leading the delivery of new projects. The successful candidate will bring a minimum of five years’ experience in modern workplace roles or as a senior systems engineer, with a strong focus on Microsoft Intune and related technologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement key business and IT projects within a large enterprise environment
* Lead and implement new workplace technologies from concept to completion, collaborating with stakeholders and managing timelines
* Implement and maintain enterprise‑level OS, device, and mobile configurations (Windows and Apple)
* Script solutions and automate tasks using PowerShell
* Create, update and deploy applications through Microsoft Intune
* Maintain and support the Microsoft 365 ecosystem within the EMEA region
* Provide technical support to resolve tickets, troubleshoot issues, and provide expert guidance to end‑users and other team members
* Evaluate existing solutions, recommend enhancements, and stay abreast of emerging technologies to drive innovation within the organisation
* Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system designs, configurations, and procedures
* Work closely with global IS teams, internal stakeholders, and third‑party vendors to deliver seamless workplace experiences
* Proactively identify opportunities to improve our security posture, working with global security teams for best practices
Required Skills and Experience
* At least five years’ proven experience in a modern workplace engineering role or as a senior systems engineer
* Demonstrable expertise in designing and deploying OS upgrades using tools such as Autopilot and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
* Strong understanding of modern workplace technologies including Microsoft 365, Windows Hello for Business, Azure Active Directory, Entra, Intune and endpoint management
* Proficient in troubleshooting complex technical issues and providing effective solutions
* Experience configuring and managing conditional access policies; demonstrable experience with Entra ID
* Experience configuring and maintaining Windows Updates for Business (WUfB)
* Experience producing and maintaining PowerShell scripts to automate tasks and drive efficiencies
* Experience using service‑management tools such as ServiceNow
* Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills
Qualifications
* Advanced modern‑workplace certifications, including MD-102 or MS-102, are required
* Additional certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, or related technologies are desirable
Preferred Additional Skills
* Knowledge of Agile, ITIL practices, and service management
* Exposure to DevOps methodologies and tools
* Ability to manage and optimise storage solutions
* Understanding of compliance standards (GDPR, ISO 27001)
