Overview
We are looking for a compassionate, highly motivated Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for caring for women undergoing a range of early pregnancy complications and gynaecology issues. You will be working alongside a supportive and committed MDT. The service ethos is to provide time-critical rapid assessment of women working in close liaison with our ED, midwifery and GP colleagues. The successful candidate ideally should have knowledge and experience of gynaecology and early pregnancy management and treatment pathways. We run a Gynaecology Assessment Unit (GAU) and Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) at the Royal Derby Hospital. Excellent teamwork skills are vital to allow collaboration across the team and the ability to manage your own workload is essential. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist you would be expected to take the role of nurse in charge on some of your shifts. Our unit delivers specialist, evidence-based, holistic care to women with early pregnancy complications and emergency gynaecological conditions in an environment that supports patient choice and dignity. Our team consists of Consultant Gynaecologists, senior sister, specialist nurses, registered nurses, health care support workers and receptionists.
Responsibilities
* Run the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit clinics, evaluate, plan and implement care for women who are experiencing early pregnancy complications such as miscarriage or ectopic.
* Run the Gynaecology Assessment Unit in evaluating, planning, and implementing care to a group of women who attend for early pregnancy complications and gynaecology issues.
* Undertake nurse-led triaging of patients, following local and national policy, working alongside the team of gynaecology Doctors.
* Take an active role in service improvement and audit of the service.
* Take on the role of nurse in charge and oversee Staff Nurses, Health Care Support Workers, and receptionists working in the unit.
* Participate in general department management duties, such as staff training, competency assessment and staff appraisals.
Qualifications
To apply you will need to be a registered nurse with current NMC registration, have experience of working within gynaecology and an understanding of early pregnancy. A gynaecology course would be an advantage to the role.
