Job purpose: The HR Business Advisor at NATS provides comprehensive professional support and advice on a range of HR activities to enable business areas to meet people related performance objectives and targets. The role works very closely with the HR Business Partners, focussing on practical HR and leadership support - such as: discipline, grievance, absence, individual case management as well as management and leadership development including succession planning and talent management. The post will operate within a specified framework defined by HR policy and procedure, UK Employment law as well as general HR practice to drive improvements to HR delivery and personal case management. Other duties include: Provide an efficient, effective and customer focussed HR service which supports all aspects of an employee's relationship and engagement with NATS, including recruitment, terms and conditions of employment, case management, training and development activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation Build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, providing advice and guidance on HR policy and related issues to support understanding and ensure effective communication of good HR practice Support relevant HR Business Partners and provide advice on a full range of HR matters Deputise for the HR Business Partner in their absence and represent them at meetings as required, also undertake project work in support of Business Partner activities. Case work Support the allocated business area with advice on varied personal case work that could range from advice on performance management and managing a portfolio of HR cases autonomously. Ensure effective monitoring of sickness trends and implementation of remedial actions in accordance with NATS policies and to facilitate a proactive approach to absence management. Ensure cases are managed to a timely and appropriate conclusion adhering to employment law, policies, business and operational requirements. Provide managers with advice and guidance which adheres to a range of policies and terms and conditions and meets the operational and business needs of the organisation. Continuously improve the capability of line management through coaching to enhance their competence and confidence to effectively manage their teams and personal cases. Accurately record and provide management information as required, as well as supporting managers by providing insights on case management. Proactively support a culture of continuous improvement and initiatives within HR, including helping to manage/lead HR case management initiatives. HR Transactional Work in close collaboration with HR Support teams in terms of the transactional service they deliver and working with them to increase effectiveness. Maintain current and accurate information within the NATS HR information systems and personal case logs adhering to the GDPR at all times. Essential skills and experience: An accomplished, credible and respected professional with well-developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills gained in a complex organisation. Recent and extensive experience of leading and managing HR cases in a complex/unionised environment is a key requirement. Knowledge and good understanding of UK employment law is required. A well-grounded understanding of HR's role within the business and the current organisational challenges. Excellent experience and working knowledge of HR policies and procedures and their practical application. Demonstrable resilience combined with good coaching and facilitation skills. Credible impact, with a demonstrated capability to resolve conflict, as well as building maintaining and utilising relationships with key internal stakeholders. Collaborative working style with a clear and relentless focus on delivering optimum outcomes for the allocated business area. CIPD qualification is desirable but not required.
