Prospero Teaching are looking for specialist SEN Tutors in the Barnet area to deliver tuition on a 1:1 basis to young people with complex special educational needs (SEN) that cannot currently access mainstream education.
The Opportunity
Prospero Teaching are currently onboarding new tutors to join their team for the upcoming academic year in the Barnet area.
Whether you are looking to embark upon a full-time tutoring role outside of the classroom, or if you are simply looking to take on more hours alongside your current job role, we have students in the local area who need educational support.
The support will be taking place at the young person’s home or in a local library on a part-time basis (up to 15 hours per week).
As an SEN Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver tailored lessons to bridge gaps in pupil’s education and boost attainment levels. You may be an experienced teacher or have significant experience working with children in a therapeutic way to support their needs through previous SEN specialist positions.
Contract/Position Details:
1. Location: Barnet
2. Position: QTS Tutor
3. Hours: up to 15 hours per week
4. Start date: As soon as possible
5. Duration: ongoing until a school placement is found
6. Contract Type: Temporary/part-time
7. Pay Rate: from £25 per hour
Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
8. QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications is Essential
9. Demonstrated experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
10. Possess UK classroom teaching experience and experience delivering tailored lesson plans
11. Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
12. Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
13. Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
14. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
15. Provide two professional child-related references.
