* Contract Type: Permanent / Part-time (14 hours per week)

* Proposed Salary Range: £27,600 - £33,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
Purpose of the Role
As the weekend newsreader you will be preparing and reading bulletins for BBC Radio Solent, and ensuring our smartspeaker bulletins are delivered. Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight is a very busy news patch, so you’ll be used to reacting to breaking stories and working with our digital team to ensure your content reaches a wider audience. A great voice is essential, as is a passion and a natural flair for storytelling.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
* Read weekend news bulletins.
* Produce news stories for your bulletins and the following day.
* React to and chase breaking news at the weekend.
* Help set up stories for programmes.
Essential Criteria / Your Skills and Experience
* Strong broadcasting voice.
* Excellent writing skills across a range of formats.
* Knowledge of media law.
* Skill in audio editing.
* Ability to create engaging written content for online platforms.
Desired but Not Required
* Writing for TV bulletins.
* TV production.
* Radio package making.
