Protocol Education is working with a welcoming, forward-thinking secondary school that’s looking for a Design and Technology Teacher to join its established department after Easter.
This role could be a great fit for an experienced DT specialist who values a supportive team environment, or an Early Career Teacher keen to develop their skills in the right setting. Either way, you’ll be supported from day one, with clear guidance and a team that genuinely works together.
You’ll be joining a department where ideas are shared openly, successes are celebrated, and support is part of the culture, not just something written on paper. Whether you’re refining your teaching style or building confidence early in your career, the structures are there to help you focus on what matters most, delivering engaging lessons that inspire students.
The role
You’ll teach Design and Technology across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop creativity, problem-solving skills and practical confidence. The curriculum is broad, well organised and gives you the chance to lean into your specialism where possible.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Planning and delivering engaging DT lessons that bring learning to life
• Creating a positive classroom where students feel confident to experiment, learn and improve
• Using a range of teaching strategies and practical resources to keep lessons purposeful
• Adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners
• Monitoring progress and using assessment to guide next steps
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain consistency and creativity across the department
• Promoting positive behaviour for learning and building respectful relationships with students
What we’re looking for
• UK QTS, or currently working towards it as an ECT
• A genuine passion for Design and Technology and practical learning
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A reflective approach and willingness to keep developing professionally
• High expectations alongside a commitment to inclusive teaching
What you’ll get through Protocol Education
• Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
• FREE access to our online CPD Academy
• Support from a dedicated local consultant who actually answers the phone
• Opportunities in schools that align with your teaching style and values
• A smooth and straightforward registration process
If you’re an ECT, this is a fantastic opportunity to begin your career in a department that understands the importance of mentoring, structure and gradual confidence-building. If you’re experienced, it’s a chance to bring your expertise to a school that genuinely values what you bring.
