Let us introduce the role:The Head of Delivery will directly report into the Director of the Labs Business Unit (BU) and will lead an integrated team of specialists to deliver the key Enterprise Science Services across AWE, playing a vital role in keeping our unique business safe and operational. Enterprise Science Services refer to activities such as Radiation Protection, Criticality Safety, Radiological Instrumentation and Environmental Monitoring. This role serves as a senior member of the Labs BU management team and acts as the first-line deputy to the Director, with full delegated responsibility. It plays a key part in ensuring effective, safe, and high-quality delivery of the business-critical orderbook within the Labs BU. Strong leadership in this position is essential to supporting the deterrence mission and maintaining the organisations technical credibility. Youll be required to:Lead the delivery of the integrated Labs BU order book to meet customer demands.Ensure that staff have everything they need to carry out their work, acting as key focal point to Hd Estate Ops to drive availability of equipment and materiel to operate effectively and are available when required.Be the operational focal point for staff in the BU, driving a culture of operational effectiveness, continuous improvement and a "We Can If…" culture.Own the relationships with customers, collating disparate, ill-defined requirements for work and to lead on the technical engagement of SMEs to decompose those requirements into tactical work. Whilst not to be considered a tick list, wed like you to have experience in some of the following:Working knowledge of relevant Licence Conditions, Environmental Permitting Regulations, and other relevant legislation.Degree educated or similar attainment level demonstrated through experience.Proven track record in delivering complex scientific projects involving multiple stakeholders e.g. orderbook balancing, throughput considerations, risk/opportunity exploitation, balance of investment preparation, investment justification, tasking, performance reporting, technology, information, governance and people/organisation.Good technical knowledge of domains relevant to the Labs BU, e.g. materials, chemistry, physics, experimental science, etc.Experience in establishing and maintaining effective governance, risk management, and reporting mechanisms for a large-scale programme or work.Experience in managing the budget and resources ensuring value for money and return on investment.Experience in building and maintaining strong and positive relationships with senior leadership, programme sponsors, customers, regulators, and other external partners, and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and engagement. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
