Neuro-oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist

Grade Band 7 Contract Fixed term: 12 months (Ends 1st July 2027). Hours Full time - 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Job ref 213-DivisionC-7988404-A.

Salary: £58,133 - £65,261 per annum (Yearly).
Main Duties of the Job
* Assist in the delivery of an advanced specialist nursing service for people with neuro‑oncology needs.
* Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through treatment.
* Ensure continuity of a high standard of evidence‑based nursing care, including:
o Managing a patient caseload.
o Making and receiving referrals.
o Admitting and discharging patients within agreed protocols.
o Delivering the nurse‑led results clinic.
o Participating in the delivery of the radiotherapy telephone follow‑up clinic.
* Accept responsibility for own patient caseload, ensuring accurate care plans and clear documentation in patient records.
* Be actively involved in in‑patient care, liaising with ward staff to ensure high‑quality nursing care.
* Attend out‑patients, ensuring nurse consultation with newly diagnosed patients, and follow up as appropriate.
* Present patient histories at weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, provide MDT outcomes to referrers, and deliver a seamless service through enhanced MDT processes.
* Participate in the development and review of clinical protocols, strategies, and service improvement meetings.
* Maintain patient records, discharge coordination, and appropriate communication with local community, social services, and voluntary organisations.
* Support education and training of staff and patients, and contribute to evidence‑based practice and clinical audit.
* Represent the service in relevant forums and cooperate with the Trust’s Equality and Diversity policy.
Qualifications
* NMC Level 1 or Level 2 Registered Nurse.
* Degree (BSc) or equivalent in a health‑related subject.
* Advanced clinical assessment skills or willingness to develop these.

* Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
* Committed to providing evidence‑based care and improving patient outcomes.
* Willingness to work towards higher academic qualification and specialist certification in neuro‑oncology.
