What a day might look like for you
This is an exciting opportunity at the UK's largest animal welfare charity. As an Animal Care Assistant, you'll play a vital role in the care, rehabilitation, and rehoming of animals rescued from cruelty and neglect.
Your day will include cleaning enclosures, feeding, watering, grooming, and exercising animals such as dogs, cats, and small domestic species. You'll monitor and report on their behavior, wellbeing, and health, and may administer medication or treatments prescribed by a vet. You'll also work on behavior modification programs with guidance from our specialists.
When animals are ready for adoption, you'll assess their suitability with potential adopters and provide post-adoption support.
What you'll bring:
* Experience working with animals, through paid or voluntary roles (excluding personal pets).
* Resilience, as many animals may have experienced neglect or cruelty.
* Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
* Comfort with IT and record-keeping.
Please note, our centre is in a rural area with limited public transport. Own transportation is required.
Successful candidates may need to undergo a DBS check.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK; we cannot sponsor visas.
We review applications as they come in, so early submission is encouraged. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
We value diversity and actively encourage applications from minority ethnic groups and individuals with disabilities to support our mission of animal welfare.
Our mission is to ensure animals have a good life through rescue, care, advocacy, and inspiring compassion.
