General Operative / Handyperson

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on‑site General Handy Person at HMP Onley.
Working hours are 39 hours per week across 7 days with a weekend shift pattern requiring 1 in 3 weekends, paid with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary. The base salary is £27,426.
The General Handy Person plays an important part in ensuring planned and reactive maintenance work within the prison is carried out safely, compliantly and on time.
What You Will Do
* Collaborate with a dynamic team to perform general maintenance tasks and assist tradespeople on site.
* Take on various FM duties as directed by the team manager.
* Maintain high health and safety standards across the contract.
* Contribute to local and business zero‑carbon initiatives, strategically working towards sustainability goals.
What You Will Bring
* Solid experience in DIY or general building maintenance.
* CITB relevant certification or equivalent.
* Willingness to learn new skills.
* Ability to work well in a team.
Prison Security Clearance will be required. Amey will support you through the clearance process.
