The Role
Westgrove is seeking an experienced Head of Hard Services
to lead all mechanical, electrical and building fabric operations at a major shopping centre. This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role with full responsibility for PPM delivery, statutory compliance, specialist contractors, budgets, and life-safety systems.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the centre operates safely, efficiently and cost-effectively for owners, tenants and customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme across all M&E plant and building fabric
* Own and deliver the 5-Year PPM and lifecycle programme
* Manage all reactive maintenance through to satisfactory completion
* Appoint, manage and control specialist subcontractors in line with company and statutory requirements
* Control technical services budgets, driving value for money and operational efficiency
* Ensure full compliance with statutory inspections, certification and landlord reporting
* Maintain life-safety systems as a top priority (fire, water, electrical, emergency systems)
* Oversee health & safety, including risk assessments, COSHH, water hygiene and safe systems of work
* Support tenant shop fits and landlord works from a technical and compliance perspective
* Lead, motivate and support the on-site technical team, including rota management and cover when required
* Liaise closely with the Head of Operations, landlords, surveyors and tenants
About You
* Electrical-biased background with C&G or equivalent qualifications
* Minimum 5 years' experience in technical services management or supervision
* Strong knowledge of M&E systems, building fabric and statutory compliance
* Confident managing contractors, budgets and multi-disciplinary workloads
* Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation
* Comfortable using CAFM systems and MS Office
* Professional, organised, and able to work autonomously
* Strong communicator who can build relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
