This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within the world-leading Critical Care & Perioperative Medicine Research Group (CCMPG), based jointly at Barts Health NHS Trust and Queen Mary University of London. The role combines clinical research with leadership and research skill development. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse, multi-professional team including nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, and researchers.
Responsibilities include recruiting participants, data collection for anthropometric and physical function data in the ASICS II trial across London sites, managing trial operations, educating site staff on feeding protocols, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, GCP, and study protocols. The role involves regular communication with principal investigators and clinicians. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the applicant’s skills and interests.
This contract is initially for one year, with potential extension to 36 months.
Background of ASICS II
The ASICS-II trial investigates whether a 10-day ketogenic enteral feeding regimen improves physical function in critically ill patients compared to standard feeding. The study assesses efficacy through sit-to-stand repetitions and ketosis induction, and explores mechanistic pathways using metabolomics techniques.
