Job Description:
Matchtech is working with a key client to recruit two Designated Project Engineers (DPEs) to work on a high-profile railway project in Toronto.
These roles will require the successful candidates to relocate to Toronto.
The ideal candidate will assist the project manager and team with project documentation, control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision. They should be capable of handling multiple tasks requiring various skills and prioritizing effectively.
Responsibilities
* Implement rail systems and procedures to ensure a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, commissioning, and technical activities, compliant with relevant legislation. Liaise with regulators and others as appropriate.
* Engineer projects to meet client standards, specifications, and contracts, ensuring compliance with company standards, specifications, and procedures.
* Manage engineering activities to deliver schemes that are affordable, meet schedules, and adhere to safety and environmental standards regarding time, cost, and quality.
* Use risk assessment techniques and HAZOP analysis to manage environmental aspects of projects in line with client policies.
* Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
* Provide project management advice for activities including testing, commissioning, and site supervision, ensuring compliance with legislation.
* Ensure internal and contractor personnel are competent.
* Review design activities and conduct audits of contractors to monitor safety, environment, and quality systems.
* Perform duties as designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
* Share best practices across project teams.
The Ideal Candidate
* Relevant experience in signalling engineering, preferably across multi-disciplinary design projects.
* Technical qualifications at HNC/HND level or equivalent GNVQ.
* Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
* Understanding of independent assessment arrangements.
* Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or a degree.
* Knowledge of structuring safety cases for projects.
* Awareness of environmental issues in engineering works.
