Workshop Controller – Main Dealership
Location: Melton Mowbray
Salary: £32,000 basic, OTE up to £45,000 (depending on experience and ability)
Hours: Mon–Fri 8:00am – 6:00pm | Sat 8:30am – 1:00pm (rota)
We are currently seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to join a reputable main dealership in Melton Mowbray. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Workshop Controller or Assistant Service Manager looking to step up within a successful and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As Workshop Controller, oversee daily operations within the workshop, managing a team of technicians
The Workshop Controller will be responsible for ensuring high standards of workmanship and productivity
Support the aftersales team and act as a key liaison between technicians and service advisors as the Workshop Controller
Ensure all work is carried out to manufacturer standards – a key focus for the Workshop Controller
Monitor job progress, allocate tasks, and maximise workshop efficiency – all core Workshop Controller duties
Ensure accurate job costing and timely completion of all repair orders as an effective Workshop Controller
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant environment in line with the responsibilities of a Workshop Controller
Provide technical support and guidance to technicians in your role as Workshop Controller
As a hands-on Workshop Controller, resolve any technical or workflow issues promptly
Contribute to staff development and team morale as an approachable Workshop Controller
The Workshop Controller will also assist in quality control and final checks where required
Communicate clearly with the front-of-house team to deliver excellent customer service – a vital Workshop Controller task
The Workshop Controller must work closely with the Service Manager to ensure targets are met
Stay up to date with manufacturer bulletins and training as part of your Workshop Controller development
Represent the dealership’s values and professionalism as a lead Workshop ControllerRequirements:
Previous experience as a Workshop Controller or in a main-dealer workshop environment is essential
Strong leadership and technical background expected from a Workshop Controller
Excellent organisational and communication skills
NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair preferred
