Main duties of the job
You must be highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges in paediatric emergency care.
You must be willing to participate in health promotion to care for the children of our community.
Have continuing responsibility for the delivery of care needs and maintenance of clinical standards on the ward/dept.
Support all grades of staff, planning and directing activities to provide the optimal standard of care.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, holistic family-centred care with the multidisciplinary team for children and young people.
Act as an advocate on behalf of children and their families.
Ensure that the ward/dept. is clean and provides a safe environment for children, parents, and staff.
The aim of this post is to gain competencies, knowledge, skills, and experience in ED to progress to leadership level.
Working for our organization
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community health care premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI have a range of general hospital services, including full emergency departments, critical/coronary care units, and various consultant-led services.
WGH provides general hospital services and an urgent treatment centre for non-life-threatening conditions.
All three hospitals offer planned care including outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery, along with outreach services across Morecambe Bay.

Education and Qualification
* Registered Nurse - Child
* Specialist training including short courses essential to the role
* Safeguarding Level 3
* APLS
Experience
* Post-registration experience in an acute setting
* Ability to recognize a sick child
* Able to work in a multidisciplinary team
* Evidence of teaching and developing staff

* Ability to manage a wide variety of patient conditions
