An exciting opportunity exists within Audit Stream L&D for an experienced Senior Manager or equivalent to join the Leadership Team (LT). We seek a talented, high-performing individual to oversee our compliance and regulatory reporting activities. This role reports to the Director - Audit Learning and Development Strategic Operations (ALDSO), who leads the function and reports to the Head of People and Culture on the Audit Executive (Partner Sponsor for L&D).
The Compliance and Regulation Lead (CAR) manages compliance and regulatory reporting for the function. They collaborate with the ALDSO, the Business Partnering and Learning Implementation Lead (BPI), and the Development and Monitoring Lead (DAM) to deliver the Audit Stream L&D Strategy, maintain the curriculum, and ensure it meets quality standards, supports wider initiatives, and complies with reporting requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting curriculum scoping, design, development, delivery, and evaluation to ensure effective learning and compliance.
2. Coordinating with stakeholders like the Audit Quality Directorate (AQD) and ISQM (UK) 1 team to understand and develop responses to compliance and regulatory requirements.
3. Providing insights on best practices in L&D operations to optimize systems, processes, and controls.
4. Acting as a liaison for internal stakeholders such as Quality & Risk Management (QRM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
5. Supporting engagement with regulators, leading responses to information requests, and attending meetings.
6. Overseeing compliance monitoring and reporting, providing updates, and managing risks.
7. Leading responses to compliance requests, with review and sign-off from the ALDSO and LT.
8. Collaborating with LT members to deliver the L&D strategy.
9. Sharing key messages within the L&D team to achieve goals.
10. Advising the wider team and business leaders as a compliance expert.
11. Assessing and managing risks in L&D processes, considering wider organizational priorities.
12. Supporting development of learner profiling tools and validation processes.
13. Reviewing dashboards and recommending enhancements for compliance and learning effectiveness.
14. Maintaining quality assurance processes and controls.
15. Providing coaching and support to team members.
16. Promoting L&D activities to foster a learning culture.
17. Working with the Leadership Team to meet L&D objectives.
18. Coordinating compliance data with DAM and operations teams.
19. Supporting regulatory compliance relationships and representing BDO at external events.
20. Introducing innovations to improve operational efficiency and quality management.
21. Leading change initiatives and exemplifying leadership.
Required skills and experience
* Senior Manager level experience (or equivalent), preferably with a background in Learning & Development or Adult Education.
* Formal qualifications in L&D are advantageous but not essential with proven experience.
* Strong understanding of audit and regulatory environments.
* Experience in compliance and quality management systems is beneficial.
* Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Leadership skills to inspire and support teams.
* Excellent project management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
* Pragmatic problem-solving skills with commercially viable solutions.
* Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Understanding of business strategy and focus on operational excellence.
