We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team and help deliver high-quality, nutritious meals to our pupils while our Head Chef is on maternity leave. You will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school kitchen, ensuring that meals are prepared, cooked and served to a high standard.

You will:
• Motivate and work with a team to serve fresh, interesting and nutritious school meals.
• Work within the standards that meet Government and the Schools standards at all times.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area.
• Be able to adapt to the fast-paced environment of a school kitchen.
• Be confident in handling kitchen equipment.
• Be willing to undertake any necessary training related to food preparation and health and safety regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare fresh vegetables and fruit, breads and pastries.
• Have an awareness of the school food standards and allergens.
• Assist with the preparation of meals, cooking and serving of meals.
• Assist with laying up of table and serving counters.
• Assist with clearing, cleaning and tidying of tables and serving counters.
• Clear and clean all dishes and cutlery.
• Undertake stock taking monthly, maintaining food stock levels and checking of dates.
• Take part in meetings and training organised in the unit.
• Check and monitor stock in the unit kitchenette and report excess food items.
• Work as part of a team and contribute to the work of the unit.
General:
• Complete any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the post.
