We are seeking an experienced Interim HR Business Partner to support a dynamic and design-led higher education institution during a period of organisational change. The role will deliver a professional, effective and valued HR business partnering service, supporting strategic goals through a blend of operational and strategic HR activity. The postholder will lead onplex employee relations matters, organisational development initiatives, and workforce planning projects.

Role PurposeTo deliver a professional, effective and valued HR business partnering service, supporting strategic goals through a blend of operational and strategic HR activity. The postholder will lead onplex employee relations matters, organisational change initiatives, and workforce development projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic HR Delivery
1. Partner with senior leaders to enhance performance and efficiency aligned with organisational priorities
2. Support change programmes including restructures, OD projects, and policy development
3. Contribute to workforce planning and talent strategies
Employee Relations
4. Lead and manage a range of ER cases, from routine toplex and high-risk
5. Ensure fair, timely, and legallypliant resolution of cases
6. Coach managers on case handling, policy application, and employment law
Policy &pliance
7. Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures
8. Revise and update policies in line with best practice and legislative changes
9. Escalate risks appropriately and ensure mitigation strategies are in place
Data & Insights
10. Analyse workforce data ( absence trends) to inform strategic decisions
11. Collaborate with senior staff to develop improvement strategies
12. Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting
Person SpecificationEssential
13. Proven experience in HR business partnering within higher education, public sector, or similarplex environments
14. Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
15. Demonstrated ability to manageplex ER cases and organisational change
16. Excellent stakeholder management andmunication skills
Desirable
17. CIPD qualified or equivalent
18. Experience in coaching and developing line managers
19. Familiarity with HR systems and data analytics
