Hours - 3 Days Per Week (Tues, Weds & Fri) 11:00am-5:00pm

We’re looking for a Part Time Early Years Kitchen Assistant to join our Bristol Day Nursery!
The 56 place nursery, has a real home from home feel, with many of our staff with 10+ years service. The nursery has recently undergone a full refurbishment and boasts an impressive outdoor space with pagoda's, mud kitchens and lots of room to explore and play. All rooms have access to the garden and use it daily to support children's physical development. The indoor area is also spacious and offers an array of learning opportunities for all age groups; from the calming sleep area in the baby room, to loose parts play and a curiosity corner in our Toddler room. We offer a school readiness programme in preschool as well as opportunities for Forest School sessions, mindfulness and gentle stretching and exciting opportunities for experiments and science activities. The Preschool children champion our Eco-Schools accreditation with the support of the wider nursery.

The Role
As an Early Years Kitchen Assistant, you will support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of age-appropriate food for all the children in the nursery, with minimum wastage, and in keeping the kitchen a clean and safe environment. In the absence of the Chef, you will take responsibility for the running of the kitchen, and ensuring all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to teams.
What we’re looking for
7. Previous experience within a cooking role, in a domestic or commercial property
8. Passion for nutrition, and inspiring others in healthy eating
9. Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies
10. Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post
11. Sound knowledge of COSHH
12. Great communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parents
13. Ability to work under pressure
