Finance Assistant, Oldham Based.
£14.00 per hour + Holiday Pay.
Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Immediate start, 3-month duration (with strong potential for longer).
We are looking for a reliable and detail‑focused Finance Assistant to join a school team. This role plays an important part in supporting the smooth financial operations across the site, with a particular focus on the Purchase Ledger. Responsibilities
1. Receive and process supplier invoices, confirming goods/services have been received and expenditure has been appropriately approved.
2. Allocate expenditure to the correct nominal codes, cost centres, and VAT codes.
3. Prepare weekly/fortnightly BACS payment runs, ensuring suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
4. Receive, review, and reconcile supplier statements.
5. Investigate and resolve creditor queries or discrepancies.
6. Providing wider accounts support as and when required, including processing staff expenses, assisting with month‑end tasks, and the wider finance team with general administrative duties.
Essentials
7. Minimum 2 years proven experience in purchase ledger or a similar finance role (school finance experience is beneficial but not essential).
8. Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
9. Confident using finance systems and spreadsheets.
10. Works well as part of a friendly, collaborative team.
