Due to increased opportunities and demand in the Energy & Natural Resources division, the South West team is recruiting for Cost Engineers to join a diverse and supportive team during a period of significant growth. Our nuclear client is at the forefront of industry-leading change, and we are keen to speak to like-minded individuals with senior cost engineering experience to see what Turner & Townsend can offer you. Candidates will be required to be present in our client office in Bridgewater for 3 days per week.
A Cost Engineer will be responsible for work packages and projects of varying size and complexity. Work packages may vary in size, with Cost Engineers accountable for control of costs on multiple smaller projects or one significantly larger project. A Senior Cost Engineer will lead cost control for multiple non-related projects or a single highly complex project, managing relationships between time, cost, risk, change, reporting, and scope, with accountability for creating and maintaining robust cost controls and reports.
Responsibilities may include:
* Tailoring Cost Control approaches to meet client needs and aligning with best practices.
* Implementing and maintaining cost control systems to track budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
* Establishing a robust Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and supporting change control processes.
* Developing project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and aligning budgets with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
* Mapping cost estimates to WBS and setting project budgets accordingly.
* Adhering to NEC or FIDIC contract processes for cost data management.
* Leading accrual production for accurate reflection of Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP).
* Supporting change processes with cost information and updating forecasts.
* Working with the project team to implement cost capture requirements and ensuring proper work order structures.
* Aligning Purchase Orders with CBS for clarity on Cost Performance Indices.
* Validating supply chain data for accurate forecasting and trending.
* Interacting with management and leadership to deliver cost control updates.
* Guiding and influencing project teams on cost control processes and reports.
* Demonstrating leadership and developing the technical ability of the cost control team.
Additional requirements include:
* Ability to obtain BPSS level security clearance.
* Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, PMI).
* Familiarity with cost performance reporting and forecasting techniques.
* Experience leading Cost Control Assurance activities.
* Understanding of how Project Controls aspects like Scheduling, Risk Management, and Change Control interact with Cost Control.
* Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities.
* Stakeholder management experience and ability to navigate conflict.
* A desire to work within the nuclear sector.
