Job Title: Senior Commercial Property Lawyer

Pay rate: £40.16 per hour PAYE
Role length: Anticipated 4 months
Working Arrangement: Office attendance 2 days per week for the first two months
Additional requirements: Ability to travel to client offices or courts
The role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Property Lawyer to join the team. You will have skills in managing external lawyers, experience in education and academy land dealings, including foundations schools and development. The role involves large-scale housing stock transfer and estate ballot experience, and handling lease and licence work across the 5 borough shared services, excluding routine residential matters.
What the client is looking for:
* Qualified solicitor, barrister, chartered legal executive, or equivalent legal experience with a background in local government
* External lawyers’ management skills
* Experience in land dealings for education and academy sectors, including foundations schools
* Large-scale housing stock transfer experience
* Estate ballot experience
* Lease and licence work experience
* Good knowledge of relevant legislation and decision-making processes
* Understanding of current issues and best practices in service delivery
* Strong analytical legal skills
* Experience in staff management, inspiring, and motivating teams
* Commitment to the principles and development of the Shared Legal Service
* Ability to contribute to ongoing service development
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, along with good numeracy and analytical skills
* Experience working continuously with a single local authority for at least 18 months
