Paralegal – Medical Product Liability

Role: Paralegal (Grade D) – Medical Products Team
Role Summary: This role will involve assisting lawyers and senior lawyers as directed in the running of a caseload of Medical Product Liability Group Action cases from inception to trial, always under supervision and in line with current company policies and legal requirements. The team’s focus is on group action claims relating to defective medical devices and drugs.
Main Responsibilities
* Ensure the delivery of all KPI targets set by the firm.
* Ensure cases are progressed in a timely, efficient, and proactive manner.
* Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third‑party solicitors and insurers as directed.
* Deal with all aspects of pre‑ and post‑issue procedures under supervision in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
* Ensure all actions as per Proclaim Action List are completed on time.
* Accurate time recording.
* Maintain client files in good order in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements.
* Report to Senior Lawyer as required.
* Assist in the collection and collation of medical records.
* Assist in the collation of product labels and request product circulation dates from the Manufacturer.
* Maintain the group action master spreadsheet.
* Send out client care packs and client questionnaires.
* Review the information provided in the questionnaires and update the Master Spreadsheet.
* First point of contact for client queries.
* Chase documentation and information from clients.
* Prepare client documents such as witness statements and schedules of information.
* Assist the team with pre‑ and post‑issue tasks as directed.
* Maintain the team SharePoint and assist with the organisation of documents.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Desire to work in this area of law and preferably some experience.
* Graduate, preferably with a Law‑related degree and / or professional qualification such as LPC, route to BAR or CILEX.
* Ability to take direction and supervision from the team leader.
* Proven legal and forensic skills.
* Keen analytical skills.
* Good organisational skills.
