The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Technician to join our team at Damhead Creek. In this role, you will support the Production Team Leader in all production-related activities while ensuring the power station operates efficiently and safely. You will play a key role in monitoring and operating the station in line with energy management requirements. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plant safely and efficiently. Support the Production Team Leader in all operational activities. Diagnose and resolve plant-related issues. Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Environmental Protection Act. Implement company policies and procedures related to station operations. Carry out operational routines, plant testing, and maintenance activities within competence. Manage and supervise contractors on site. Conduct self-audits on Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance and complete behavioural audits of contractors and staff. Communicate with National Grid to ensure compliance with REMIT and load profiles. Assist in driving operational improvements and efficiency initiatives. What we're looking for Minimum Apprenticeship/ONC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. At least 2 years' experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a CCGT plant. Strong technical knowledge with the ability to optimise plant performance. Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation. Proficiency in computer systems and control software. Ability to support electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation disciplines. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions under pressure. Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work. Excellent teamworking, communication, and time management skills. Why Join VPI?
