We’re looking for a Senior Finance Assistant to play a crucial role in the day-to-day administration of our finance function. You’ll be the go-to person for ensuring that all necessary controls and processes are followed and maintained. Your role will involve providing outstanding support to our team, our suppliers, and our customers for finance and payroll-related queries. We will make sure you have the very best training and support to help you be the very best that you can. You will be:
* Working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations you will be empowered to take ownership of core finance activities, with mentorship and guidance to develop in financial reporting.
* Processing purchase ledger and sales ledger activity, including accurate invoicing, effective credit control, and timely supplier payments.
* Leading on finance administration, including email inbox management, query resolution or escalation.
* Ensuring that Treasury balances are maintained at the agreed levels and recommending transfers to maximise interest income.
* Assisting with payroll and benefits activities, working closely with the People Team and external payroll provider.
* Posting journals, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and assisting in the production of monthly financial reports including P&L, with appropriate support from the Director of Finance and Operations.
* Producing the first pass VAT return reports and reconciliations for review.
* Communicating effectively with suppliers, customers, and colleagues, ensuring service is professional, values-led, and customer focused.
* Developing and implementing changes to facilitate continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and reporting to support effective decision-making.
* Flexible – you understand that you may be asked to take on other responsibilities or tasks that are not referred to above, but that fall within the remit of your skills and abilities.
About you:
* Previous experience in a finance role is required; a related qualification would be ideal but is not essential.
* Experienced and competent in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Outlook.
* You have good attention to detail, administration and data processing skills and a proven ability to apply them.
* You are resilient, practical and a real self-starter; you are comfortable working on your own and as part of a team.
* You have strong verbal and written communication skills, and a passion for working with people.
* You are well organised with the ability to manage your time effectively and prioritise workload, with multiple conflicting demands.
