Highly Specialist [Applied] Psychologist
Band 8a or Band 7-8a Preceptorship Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
Are you a clinician passionate about working with service users with psychosis? Do you enjoy working with carers and families? Are you an independent practitioner who can promote psychology in a small team?
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologists who are committed to delivering patient-focused care and treatment. The service invests in new practitioners to enhance knowledge, skills, clinical practice, leadership and confidence in working in this area. Applicants who have experience in Early Intervention Psychosis (EIP) or a strong foundation of transferable skills and an interest to develop in this area are encouraged to apply. There is a strong camaraderie within the Milton Keynes EIP team, with a strong partnership between operational and clinical staff. Opportunities include funded specialist training in CBT for psychosis and family interventions, and a potential to spend one clinic session per week in another team to maintain additional skills.
Main duties of the job
The Milton Keynes Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service is a multi-disciplinary team providing treatment and support for people experiencing first-episode psychosis and for up to three years after. The service focuses on psychological interventions alongside care coordination, help, advice and support. The team assists service users to understand their experiences, provides treatment and interventions to enable return to work or study, and liaises with other services to resolve benefits, finances and housing issues. A key part of the role is acting as liaison and Principal Investigator for research trials (e.g. virtual reality CBT) from different universities. The service seeks motivated clinicians to lead the development of psychological therapies and therapy pathways within the service. If appointed as a newly qualified member, you will join other recent recruits in Milton Keynes and undertake a well-established preceptorship programme to achieve the competencies required for an 8a post holder before progression.
