Contributes to the Hospital’s mission by independently operating sonographic equipment and performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. This professional staff technologist position will have an impact on quality, safety and the patient experience
Job Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Required: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
Preferred: Associates degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Experience:
Preferred: Two years of ultrasound experience
Other Skills/Knowledge:
Required: For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:
Required: Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate, or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must obtain registration within 12 months of hire date.
LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Basic Life Support
POPULATION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Neonates, Infants, Children, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Professional Commitment Requirements: Keep abreast of developments in the field and/or licensure through continuing education, participation in professional organizations or a combination of both
On-call: Rotation required
Schedule requirements: Required to regularly rotate through days, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary
Travel requirements: May be scheduled at any of the radiology locations
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
* Reports to the Ultrasound/Vascular Supervisor
* Not responsible for supervising the work of others
Job Functions

As part of the Radiology team, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer:
* Perform Diagnostic Sonography Exams: Conduct ultrasound examinations, adjusting procedures based on findings, and differentiating between normal and pathological results.
* Analyze and Communicate Findings: Interpret sonograms and communicate technical findings to physicians for use in diagnosis.
* Patient Care: Educate patients about procedures and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the process.
* Maintain Equipment and Environment: Prepare exam rooms, maintain ultrasound equipment, and ensure a clean and safe work environment.
* Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Communicate effectively with other medical professionals, including physicians, to coordinate patient care.
* Coordinate Work Schedule: Assist with daily operations, including scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.

* Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning.
