We have an exciting opportunity with a fast-growing UK media organisation for a Senior Broadcast Engineer to join their team.
About the Role
As a Senior Broadcast Engineer, you will play a pivotal role ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of cutting-edge broadcast systems and equipment. You will take ownership of complex technical issues, seeing them through to full resolution, and act as a mentor to junior engineers—sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the response to and resolution of technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to live broadcasts.
* Provide both remote and on-site technical support for broadcast equipment, including troubleshooting hardware and software in real time.
* Take ownership of technical incidents and follow through until complete resolution.
* Mentor and support junior engineers, encouraging professional growth and knowledge sharing.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to resolve technical and workflow challenges efficiently.
* Conduct routine and preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability.
* Participate in project work and contribute to the introduction of new technologies and initiatives.
* Maintain thorough documentation of support requests, solutions, and equipment configurations.
* Be available for on-call support during critical broadcasts or system failures.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Broadcast Engineer in a live television environment.
* Strong understanding of across a range of broadcast production systems and equipment covering video, audio, intercom, cameras, and record/playback systems.
* Hands-on experience with broadcast graphics systems and NDI workflows is highly desirable.
* Solid knowledge of IP networking and its application in broadcast environments.
* Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in time-critical situations and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and early and late finishes (no overnights).
* A proactive, can-do attitude and a commitment to high standards of professionalism and integrity.
