Position: Warehouse Manager
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 40-45 hours per week (Monday to Friday - no weekends)
Location: Coleshill
Salary: £38,000-£45,000 per year (dependent on experience) + performance bonus
Role Overview
A large, modern distribution operation is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead the day-to-day running of a high-volume warehouse facility. The role is responsible for ensuring efficient warehouse operations, accurate inventory control, timely dispatch of goods, and the maintenance of a safe, productive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee end-to-end warehouse operations, including goods in, goods out, picking, loading, and dispatch activities, ensuring safety and efficiency at all times.
Manage container and van loading/unloading operations, ensuring correct handling procedures are followed.
Lead, motivate, and manage a team of warehouse operatives, including daily briefings, rota management, and absence planning.
Oversee reverse logistics processes, including inspection of returned goods, completion of documentation, and reporting of damages or discrepancies.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance warehouse efficiency and accuracy.
Implement and enforce health and safety procedures, ensuring all daily, weekly, and monthly statutory inspections are completed and complied with.
Maintain control and accountability of warehouse assets and equipment.
Put controls in place to minimise errors, discrepancies, and inaccuracies, ensuring issues are highlighted, addressed, and prevented.
Ensure effective utilisation of warehouse space, including layout optimisation and future capacity planning using the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Liaise closely with management and other departments, including transport and logistics functions, to ensure smooth order fulfilment and distribution.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience (3+ years) in a Warehouse Manager or similar supervisory role within a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Strong understanding of manual handling requirements and health & safety legislation.
Hands-on approach with the physical capability to support operational tasks where required.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
Excellent organisational, planning, and attention-to-detail skills.
Clear and confident communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, remaining calm under pressure.
Proactive, adaptable attitude with a willingness to improve processes and ways of working.
