ABOUT THE ROLE
Common Story is looking for a Series Director to lead on a new lightly formatted, factual-entertainment series for CBeebies. The series explores children’s relationship with food through sensory experiences, play and curiosity, and is designed to be engaging for a 3–6-year-old audience.
The Series Director will provide clear and inclusive leadership to the editorial and location team, creating a supportive environment that encourages creativity and high editorial standards.
Working closely with a Story Producer and Series Producer, you'll be responsible for delivering visually engaging, clear and fun stories that connect with a young audience. It's essential that you have strong experience of directing a multi-camera crew on location.
The ideal candidate will also be confident in interpreting scripts and translating it into visually engaging content, with a strong instinct for following the story on location. You will be highly skilled in communicating and filming with young children, and capable of creating an environment where their authentic reactions and personalities can shine, while being responsive
to their lead. You will also be experienced in working closely with a presenter, enabling them to deliver their best performance.
The Series Director also plays a key role in shaping scripts and story frameworks, ensuring these have a strong editorial narrative, while remaining accessible and playful for a pre-school audience.
ABOUT COMMON STORY
We are a next-generation storytelling company and creative community, born from the belief that stories can change hearts, minds, and futures. At a time when many children feel unheard, unseen and written off, Common Story creates bold, human-centered narratives that restore hope, ambition and belonging - and remind children and young people of who they are and what they could be.
Rooted in the West Midlands and built for scale, we fuse world-class storytelling with community-led IP and emerging technologies to amplify voices too often ignored by traditional media and broken systems. We set the agenda - and make space for stories that hit harder, reach further and create a lasting impact.
Provisional start date for the role is 18th May 2026 for 17 weeks. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of three days per week based in our Leamington Spa office. Location filming will take place in the West Midlands.
