TXM is working with a well-known, rolling stock freight client in Somerset who is looking for a Locomotive Fitter to join their growing team. Our client seeks an experienced and qualified Fitter with a background in rolling stock, mechanics, or engineering.
Responsibilities include:
1. Perform maintenance, fault finding, servicing, and repairs on locomotives, ensuring compliance with approved plans and company standards, and maintaining accurate documentation and AMS records.
2. Conduct pre-use checks on tools and equipment, maintain workshop cleanliness, and adhere to safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
3. Attend training, competency assessments, and safety, technical, and quality briefings to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
4. Report environmental or procedural non-compliance and contribute to depot cleanliness and organization.
The shift pattern includes working all shifts on site, covering days, nights, earlies, afternoons, and swing shifts.
Requirements:
1. Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or similar qualification.
2. At least 2 years of hands-on experience in an engineering role.
3. Ability to work on heavy engineering tasks.
