Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust offers a range of cervical screening officer / MDT coordinator positions. The successful candidate will support the Primary HPV Cervical Screening service by carrying out administrative and laboratory tasks, including acting as the first point of contact on the free‑phone helpline, performing level 1 patient history checks, preparing release lists, reports and slides for MDT meetings, and contributing to the coordination of NEY Cervical Screening activities.
Main duties of the job
* Act in a way that promotes patient care and maintains the integrity of the Department.
* Maintain and promote the professional image of the NEY Cervical Screening Programme, Clinical Pathology Services and Gateshead Health NHS Trust.
* Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in line with the Trust Information Management and Technology (IM&T) Information Security Policy.
* Work under supervision in compliance with the Hub Standard Operating Procedures and departmental Health and Safety Policies.
* Follow good practice in line with professional guidelines and UKAS standards.
* Work within the Terms and Conditions of Employment.
* Report incidents, accidents and defects according to Trust and Divisional guidelines.
* Contribute to the provision of materials, advice and support for the clinical users of the service.
* Support administration and laboratory functions to help co‑ordinate NEY Cervical Screening activities within the department.
* Support the NEY Cervical Screening staff to ensure effective patient flow and clinical management.
* Participate in a range of daily activities of the department on a rostered basis as directed by supervisors.
* Provide an effective and efficient service to meet the needs of the department, its customers and staff.
Qualifications
* Educated to certificate/diploma level or equivalent experience.
* Computer qualification (OCR or equivalent).
* NVQ Level 2 in Office Administration or equivalent.
Experience
* Previous office administration or data entry experience.
* Recent NHS experience.
* Experience dealing with enquiries from members of the public.
* Experience of MDT coordination, including the collation and requesting of slides and reports.
Skills
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Hand‑eye coordination and accuracy.
* Literacy and numeracy skills.
* Ability to manipulate data.
* Demonstrated facilitation skills.
Knowledge
* Understanding of office administration functions.
* Routine use of the internet and Microsoft Office software.
