The Opportunity

The Team
Our Rural Property team is a specialist team within our wider Real Estate Department.
Described in the Legal Directories as " vibrant, proactive, personable and engaging ", our rural property team are renowned for their strength and depth and for their expert handling of some of the biggest and most significant transactions in the specialist market for large agriculture estates in the UK. The team is integral to the firm's multidisciplinary Estates and Land specialism, providing expert advice to a broad range of estate and landowners, from new buyers of farms and estates to institutional and international investors in rural property, as well as conservation-focused enterprises and charities. The team collaborates closely with our private client and dispute resolution teams, and works alongside lawyers in related fields such as banking, planning, environment, energy, projects and corporate law to provide truly joined up rural property advice and solutions.
Work
The team's work encompasses all areas of rural land and business, from lifestyle buyers of country houses to historic landowners managing estates and well-established rural businesses expanding into new projects. We have a national practice spread across Scotland as well as England and Wales, and so are uniquely placed to advise clients building and managing UK wide portfolios. We are a well-connected team dealing regularly with all of the major rural land agents and other multipliers.
We act on the sale, purchase, leasing and mortgaging of farms, estates, country houses and other rural properties and advise on a wide range of issues arising from the ownership, occupation and management of rural land and buildings. We also have an exceptional track record of advising landowners and other stakeholders on innovative, first-of-their-kind, natural capital and sustainable land use projects.

What you'll need
* Relevant experience working on property transactions and matters for landed estates and rural property
* Must be a SRA or Law Society of Scotland registered lawyer
