An excellent opportunity for an experienced Automation Service Engineer EICA has arisen with one of our clients, a world leader within many key industries.
A home based opportunity (remote working), responsible for providing remote and onsite support to a multi-industry client base on a rota’d basis. Applicants are required to be flexible and be willing to travel.
Main Responsibilities
* As a Automation Service Engineer - EICA you will operate a variety of PLC / PC software application automation packages and be able to use programmers to diagnose faults on automated systems
* You will connect remotely on a variety of platforms to clients PC / PLC / SCADA applications and while working with the client, diagnose issues on unfamiliar applications – generally to move on processes and/or diagnose faults within the field
* Identify Engineering scope changes and effectively manage the process of change control and ensure reports are detailed with root cause and resolution.
* Ability to survey automation systems and deliver adoption / obsolescence reports, advising clients regards risk and upgrade paths. You will be able to effectively carry out automation small works and repairs estimates, with regards to hardware scope and man hours.
* Selection & specification of PLC/HMI/SCADA hardware and software.
Qualifications and Experience
* Previously worked within a maintenance and/or commissioning role, with the ability to fault find via multiple PLC manufacturers and types.
* Experience in Automation service environment or obsolete experience such as Siemens and Rockwell, Omron – multiple PLC systems needs to have been a systems engineer or controls engineer.
* Be able to make minor modifications to PLC code and systems including changing PLC cards, identify issues and rectify coding issues, ability to read code and move sequences on in order to continue production.
* Be able to connect and back up PLC and HMI software applications, storing and sharing as required by contracts
* Able to complete PC healthchecks, replace hard drive, backup and restore applications
* Able to work alone as well as supervise a small team on specific projects
* Completed an engineering apprenticeship.
* Travel is required and if the location is more than a days work then we would arrange overnight stays and of course the engineer will have a vehicle.
