Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for x2 Medical Secretary based at University Hospital Crosshouse. One position is permanent, and the other is a Fixed-term contract for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

What you will do:

The Postholder will provide a comprehensive Support Medical Secretarial Service to the Consultants and Clinical teams within the Ophthalmology Service at University Hospital Crosshouse.

Experience within a Medical Secretarial environment is preferred and you should have a relevant secretarial qualification e.g. AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Secretaries, RSA or Scotvec qualification, Business Management or equivalent experience. A working knowledge of the patient management system (Trakcare) and knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous as further training can be provided.

Primary duties will include, transcription of clinical correspondence using digital dictation and processing patient results appropriately and timeously. Other duties include operating and maintaining the waiting list within the specialty.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

* Relevant secretarial qualification (eg. AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Secretaries, RSA, HNC, Business Administration or equivalent qualification/experience
* Excellent understanding and comprehension of English language
* Accurate audio-typing skills
* Secretarial experience
* Microsoft Office Packages
* Ability to work individually in a team setting
* Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with a wide range of disciplines/general public
* Ability to work in a team environment or on own initiative
* Flexibility in approach to working practices
* Manage time, prioritise workloads

Hours:

Post 1: 37 hours per week, permanent

Post 2: 37 hours per week, fixed-term, 12 months
